During the onboarding process, you will need to set up and configure your Apple Developer account for the Apple app. It is a fairly easy process, but some steps might involve waiting periods, so this process should begin immediately.
Apple does charge an annual fee to have an Account with them. It is currently $99/per year.
If you have an Existing App
Do not remove your existing app until your new one is developed and you’ve confirmed it is up and running.
Remove access for any old developers
Your new app will need to be developed under a different app name, but once it is live and the old app is removed, it can be renamed.
Steps to create your Apple Developer Account
Create your account here and enroll as an organization. This needs to be a business and not a personal account or a sole proprietorship.
The directions mention the acquisition of a free DUNS Number, this can be acquired here. If you do not already have a DUNS Number, it takes roughly 10-15 minutes to apply and up to 30 days for it to be ready for use in creating a Developer Account. We recommend storing the details you use to establish the number, as it is common for businesses to misplace them, and you may need it in the future.

Ongoing Account Maintenance
We recommend logging in once a month to review and accept any updated Terms and Conditions. If you have not accepted the latest terms, it will not be possible to release app updates to your customers.
We also recommend setting your membership to Auto-Renew to ensure there is no lapse in your app's availability for your customers.
