How can I change the Tax Rates on a Product?

Changing Tax Rates on a Product

Tax rates are configured based on the Product Type associated with your Products. Studio owners and Admins can change tax rates.

Proper assignment of product types is crucial, as tax rates are configured based on these types. For example, assign a product type with a 0% tax rate (e.g., 'Custom' or 'Default') for non-taxable items like hats, and use a different product type for taxable items such as jewelry or hair clips.

If you do not see the option, please get in touch with your Studio Admin. The Admin can make the change, or submit this form to request an update to your permissions.

Once a product is created, its product type cannot be modified. If you need to change the product type, you must re-upload or recreate the product with the correct type and configure the appropriate tax settings.

To add or change tax rates, log in as an Admin and navigate to Configuration > Search your Studio > Location details for the applicable location and select Taxes.

At this time, Tax Rates can not be deleted. If you accidentally create a duplicate Tax Rate, you must set one of them to 0%. Unfortunately, the 0% rate will display on the customer receipt.

Add Tax Rate

Click Add Tax Rate and fill in the Name and Product Category.

When adding tax rates, include the location in the name to avoid confusion if you have multiple studio locations.

Enter the Percentage and Save Changes in the bottom right corner.

Add Min and Max Price

To add a Minimum or Maximum Price to a Tax Rate, click the three-dot icon next to the Tax Rate and enter the Price.

Minimum Price refers to the dollar amount an individual product must reach before the tax rate takes effect.

Maximum Price refers to the dollar amount that an individual product must reach before the tax rate will no longer be in effect.
