On July 1, 2023, Google stopped processing data for Universal Analytics. You can read more about these changes here from Google.
The guide below will guide you on updating your Universal Analytics setup to receive data with Google Analytics 4.
Our support team can't provide direct assistance or guidance with GA4 setup. For an effective implementation, we recommend consulting a marketing expert.
Steps to create a new GA4 property based on your Universal Analytics property
When logged in to your GA account, view your Universal Analytics Property and click on the GA4 setup assistant.
Click the ‘Get Started’ button for the top option: I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property.
In the modal, keep the Enable data collection using existing analytics.js and gtag.js tags box unchecked and click the ‘Create and Continue’ button.
Select the ‘Use a Google tag you already have’ option and select the tag you were already using for Universal Analytics. And click the ‘Confirm’ button.
Now click on the ‘Go to your GA4 property’ button, and it will open a new tab with your new property.
Steps to configure your GA4 property to receive data
In the new tab, select Custom Definitions. This will bring up a new section with Custom Dimensions.
Click to add a new custom dimension. Add each dimension below. Select “Event” as the scope for each dimension. Each dimension parameter will have the same name with underscores instead of spaces and all lowercase letters. The parameter value is the bulleted value under each name.
NOTE: A dimension cannot be deleted once created. So be sure to enter the dimension names correctly and that no additional spaces are entered before or after the name if you are copy-pasting.

Steps to Update an Existing GTM Container for Web Integrations
Import the updated Setup File (UA-to-GA4-container.json)
Please reach out to our Support Team to receive this file.
Go to the admin tab in the top nav of your container workspace tab.
Select “import container” and import the appropriate updated file that we have provided to you.
Select existing workspace, then Default workspace.
Select “Overwrite” if you have not customized your file. If you have made edits, then “Merge” in the new file.
If you choose to “Merge,” select “Overwrite” conflicting tags.
Next, click confirm at the bottom of the screen. You will be brought back to your workspace and should see the added items listed in the workspace changes.
Enter your Measurement ID (this should be GA4, not Universal Analytics).
View your tags.
In the Send to Google Analytics G4 Configuration tag, edit the Measurement ID.
Under Measurement ID, click on the ID number and update your Google Analytics tracking id (format G-XXXXXXXXXX) and save.
Your GA Tracking id number can be found in your GA Account in the admin section under Data Streams. It will be called MEASUREMENT ID and be listed after the STREAM ID.
Publish your updated Container.
From your workspace, there should be a button that says “Submit” in the top right corner. Click Submit. For the Version name, you can add today’s date. You can leave the description blank or add anything you would like.
Click Publish in the top right corner, and you should be brought back to your homepage, which now shows your container is live.
Contact Mariana Tek’s support team and send them your Google Tag Manager ID.
Mariana Tek will add the id to the configuration of your tenant, which will activate analytics for your account (format GTM-XXXXXXX).
This ID is found on the homepage of Google Tag Manager in the Container ID column.
Steps to update existing Universal Analytics Tags to Google Analytics 4: Firebase for iOS Consumer App
If you don't already have a Firebase account, follow the instructions here.
If you have an existing Firebase account, this migration process is straightforward. Here are a few ways to connect GA4 properties based on the status of your Firebase account: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9289234?hl=en.
You can go to the 'Link your Firebase project to Analytics' step in the above link to connect your current Firebase project with the GA4 property (if it exists) or create a new one.
You can edit the connection with the GA account using the 'Edit an Analytics link.'
You can edit the connection with the GA account using 'Relink your Firebase project.'
It may take 24 hours after linking Firebase and Analytics for data to flow between the products. This may affect features like A/B Testing etc.
