You can see what kind of penalties a given customer has on their credit packages within the Credits tab on the customer's profile. The fee type will be listed on the package card. If you want to see all of your package holders' settings in one place, refer to the Outstanding Credits Report.
You can disable penalties for existing credit package holders in 2 ways:
Disable Penalty Fees on the Credit Type:
The Penalty Fee Toggle on the Credit Type settings can be used to turn off penalties on existing package holders who have credits of that type on their accounts. For example, If a customer’s package has “loss of credit” penalties, and you turn the toggle off on the Credit Type, the customer will be returned their credit the next time they late cancel or now show a reservation. You can always re-enable the toggle at a later time if you want to start collecting penalties again. This option is best if you want to temporarily disable penalties for all credit packages associated with a credit type.Update All Credit Package Holders to have “No Fee” Penalties:
If you do not want to disable penalties for all credit packages under a Credit Type, you can disable penalties on the credit package itself. Navigate to the credit package you’d like to update. Select “No Fee” in the Penalty Fee dropdown menu, AND select the box to “retroactively update all previously sold packages.” Once you save, you’ll be prompted to confirm the update. After confirmation, the system can take up to an hour to update existing credit package holders’ packages. Once the job is complete, you can view the Outstanding Credits Report to see the new “No Fee” penalty type on all package holders.
For Disabling Penalty Fees on Existing Credit Packages:
If a customer’s package has “loss of credit” penalties, and you turn the toggle off on the Credit Type, the customer will have their credit returned to them the next time they late cancel or now show a reservation.
When you disable the Penalty Fee Toggle on the Credit Type, it removes the penalty fee type from all of the associated packages, and all new sales of that package will have no penalties. If you are wanting to turn off penalties for existing customers but collect penalties on new packages, it is best to set up new credit types and packages for go-forward sales.
For Enabling Penalty Fees on Existing Credit Packages:
If the toggle is currently OFF for a given credit type, and existing customers have purchased packages where there are no penalties, when the toggle is enabled, the system will continue to not process monetary/credit penalties for existing customers, as there was never a penalty fee type set on the package at the time of sale. However, once the toggle is enabled on the type, the penalty fee type setting on the existing package will appear in the package settings with a default setting of "Loss of Credit" penalties. All go-forward sales of the package will have "Loss of Credit" penalties unless another penalty fee option change is made to the credit package settings.
