What are my options for managing payroll?

There are several different ways to manage your payroll in Mariana Tek:

  • Mariana Tek Reports

  • Insights Instructor Payroll

  • Xplor Payroll

  • Third-party integrations

Mariana Tek Reports

In Mariana Tek, you can use the following reports to calculate payroll

    • View the total hours logged for hourly employees

    • Only shifts recorded through the Time Clock feature in Admin will be displayed in the report

    • View how many classes were taught over a period of time

    • Classes with no sign-ups and no reservation history will not display in the report.

This option is best for simple payroll based on total hours worked or the number of classes taught. Additionally, it will provide more information on the classes and shifts the employee was involved in.

For both reports, you will need to export the data and calculate it outside of Mariana Tek.


Insights Instructor Payroll

The Insights Instructor Payroll report automatically calculates payroll based on the instructor pay rates. Calculations include:

  • Per-class rate: the instructor is paid a set amount per class, regardless of attendance.

  • Per-head rate (excluding no-shows): the total attendance for all classes in the date range is totaled and multiplied by the $ rate.

  • Per-head rate (including no-shows)/: the total attendance plus the total number of no-shows in the date range is multiplied by the $ rate.

The report will automatically calculate the total pay, provide a breakdown of pay earned for each class, and show the number of classes and total attendance.

Important details when using this report:

  • Only available for Instructors, not employees.

  • Insights updates once per day. Classes completed after the final sync won’t appear until the next day, so wait until then to run payroll for complete data.

  • Payroll is calculated only from the date a pay rate is added. Classes held before the rate is added aren’t included.

  • It can only report on per-class or per-head rate set in Mariana Tek. It cannot do a combination of class and per-head, or bonus rates.

  • If instructors use different rate types, run the report separately for each and confirm the instructor rates before processing payroll.


Xplor Payroll

Xplor Payroll is a payroll automation solution that pulls in class attendance, time clock, and employee data to calculate pay automatically. This option is best for studios with more advanced payroll. In Xplor Payroll, you can:

  • Set flexible pay rules

    • Flat rates

    • Hourly by class

    • Hourly by duration

  • Create incentives

    • Per Head: Adds a set amount per eligible reservation (e.g., $1 per reservation over 5, $4 per reservation over 10)

    • Flat Rate: Adds a fixed bonus once a class meets a reservation threshold (e.g., $15 bonus for 15 or more eligible reservations)

  • Class filters: Pay instructors different rates or offer incentives based on the class they teach
