Class categories group class types and provide additional reporting and reservation insights. Studios that offer multiple modalities (e.g. HIIT, Kick Boxing, and Spin) may find it useful to leverage class categories to group distinct class types.
Add Class Category
To add a class category, simply go to the Class Types section under Configuration. Once you either create a new class type or edit an existing class type, you will see the Class Category information presented.
Use caution when assigning class categories to class types. Once selected and saved, class categories cannot be edited!
To create a Class Category, fill out this form and our support team will create it for you
Example:
If a HIIT studio introduces Spin classes, it may consider using two class categories to divide its class types (e.g., RIDE and HIIT). If someone was taking a class associated with a Spin class type (which would be assigned to the RIDE Class Category in this example), then the front desk will see a reservation tag appear on the roster, indicating it is that customer’s first time taking a RIDE class with your brand.
When a customer takes a class associated with a specified class category for the first time, a reservation tag will appear letting the front desk know it is the customer’s first time for that category.
Reporting
Once a class category is assigned to a class type, Admin users can filter by class categories in reporting to see how certain categories are performing. The following reports include Class Categories:
Class Utilization -Detailed

Class Session Payment Details
Class Session Utilization Details

Instructor Payroll
You can change the class category name by reaching out to support, HOWEVER, the new name will be reflected on reports for previous and future reports/reservations.
