To operate your studio's payroll, you may need employees to track their Shift Type. Some common Shift Types might include first, second, third shift, or split on-call and rotating shifts. Shift Types can also be used if employees work multiple roles and need to be paid differently for those roles. For example, a studio employee might take the Front Desk shift on Mondays but take an Instructor shift for the rest of the week.

Shift Types will allow you to track which type of shifts each employee is working.

Creating a Shift Type

First, your Employee account will need to have the permission: can_manage_shifts to create a Shift Type.

To create a Shift Type, go to Time Clock > Edit Shift Types.

From here, click Create New Type to name your Shift Type. If you need to edit an existing Shift Type, click on the icon next to the Type.

Setting a Shift Type when Clocking In

When an Employee is clocking in, they will be prompted to select their Shift Type. Shift Type is a required field.

From the Time Clock, your Shift Type will display along with the other shift details.

Shift Type in Reports

The Employee Payroll report will display the Shift Type in the final column.
