Late Cancellation Windows

Daylight Saving Time (DST) can impact your Late Cancellation Window, potentially giving members either more or less time to cancel their reservation with/without penalty

For example, if your studio uses a 12 hour late cancellation window:

On a normal day, canceling a 9:15 AM class at 9:15 PM the night before would result in exactly 12 hours of elapsed time.

  • Spring (when DST starts): When switching from Standard Time to DST (losing an hour), the same cancellation at 9:15 PM would be considered 11 hours before class.

  • Fall (when DST ends): When switching from DST to Standard Time (gaining an hour), the same cancellation at 9:15 PM would be considered 13 hours before class.

Booking Windows

Daylight Savings Time (DST) can affect your studio's booking windows, potentially giving members either more or less time to make reservations depending on whether DST is starting or ending.

For example, if your studio uses a 14-day rolling window:

  • Spring (when DST starts): If a member tries to book a class before DST begins for a time after DST starts, they’ll gain an extra hour to book. For instance, if the class starts at 8 a.m. (after DST), the reservation can be made as early as 7 a.m.

  • Fall (when DST ends): If a member tries to book a class before DST ends for a time after DST ends, they’ll lose an hour. So, if the class starts at 7 a.m. (after DST ends), the reservation won’t be available until 8 a.m.
